FINALLY I'm in Kazakhstan!! I've been waiting for months and now I've been here for about a week. This is where I was born and left at the young age of three. Also, this is the first time I've been back since then and needless to say it's been a cultural shock for me.
The people, food, DRIVING, and fashion is unlike anything I've experienced on a regular basis.
Truly, one needs to experience all this for themselves, not just in KZ but anywhere when traveling.
Being submerged in this culture has truly brought me new understanding as well as a bit of anxiety. The way people think, behave, and even relax is so different that every now and then gives me anxiety. I'm more of a quite personality, a home body if you may, and then deciding to come here for an ENTIRE MONTH!! I don't know what I was thinking but I will leave a new woman.
I already feel like a new woman. I've been introduced to so many women from my mother's past (former teammates, aunts, grandmother, and just friends) and listening to their conversations and the way they carry themselves is astonishing. These women are not only talented but wise. The way they converse about being wives and how they handle situations; truly overwhelms me. I find myself wanting to record conversations in fear of completely forgetting the advice they pass down.
A week has gone by and I'm grateful for my life in America. I'm proud of where I come from and that KZ is developing quite nicely but nothing makes me more proud than being an American.
